Campan Castle: From residential tower to grand Renaissance palace
Campan Castle was built in 1268 by the lords of Campan and has been part of the gentle and picturesque Kaltern vineyard landscape ever since. Its impressive features include the extensive, well-maintained grounds as well as the generous outer court, the cobbled inner court, the beautiful interior murals, and the historic wine cellar.
Since 1850 the Campan Castle has been owned by the Earls of Enzenberg, who have carried out extensive renovation work. This has given the building its distinctive look, and today it is a jewel among palace-type residences in the region.
